CHRISTOPHER K. PEGG
Chris Pegg is a Tax and Estate Planning attorney who has an LL.M. in Taxation and is Board Certified by the Florida Bar in the area of Tax Law. He has been structuring and implementing estate planning strategies for his clients as well as providing advice on tax planning techniques and various sophisticated business transactions for over 10 years. Prior to joining Wells Fargo Private Bank, Chris was in private practice and focused on the needs of his high net-worth clients. This representation included advice on issues related to complex estate planning techniques, charitable giving and probate matters as well as income taxation, corporate and partnership taxation, business entity formation and asset protection. In his practice, Chris also represented a number of charities and other non-profit organizations. Chris graduated from the Florida State School of Law, with honors, and received his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida. Chris is a member of the Tax Section and Real Property and Probate Section of the Florida Bar and is also a Certified Financial Planner®.
ELAINE BUCHER
Elaine Bucher is an attorney in the Personal Planning Department of Proskauer, practicing in the Boca Raton, Florida office. She devotes her practice to the area of wills, trusts and estates, concentrating in the areas of sophisticated estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax issues and estate and trust administration. Elaine has lectured and written extensively on these topics. With regard to estate planning, Elaine’s clients are typically high net worth individuals. She regularly meets with clients to formulate their estate plans, with an emphasis on formulating techniques to maximize and protect the clients’ wealth for each subsequent generation. She drafts the documents to effectuate these estate plans and explains the documents and estate plans to the clients in a comprehensible manner. In Chambers USA 2011, clients highlighted Elaine’s strengths as "technical knowledge, proactive communication, responsiveness, accessibility and sincerity in assisting us in meeting our goals.” Elaine has extensive experience in implementing advanced estate planning techniques including irrevocable insurance trusts, family limited partnerships, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, defective grantor trusts and inter vivos qualified terminable interest property trusts. She also has represented many individuals who need asset protection planning. Specifically, she has recommended and implemented many asset protection plans involving entities such as family limited partnerships and limited liability companies, irrevocable trusts, and a combination of these techniques. Elaine also has developed a niche in “relationship dissolution planning.” She was recognized in Chambers USA 2010 as having a “niche in representing high net worth individuals in pre-divorce estate planning matters.” Such planning includes the preparation of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, elective share planning and working with a client and his or her matrimonial law attorney to ensure that the client’s assets are properly titled and that the client’s separation agreement incorporates the appropriate provisions, with an eye towards the potential death of the client prior to the dissolution of the marriage. She has lectured and written extensively on this topic. In addition, Elaine handles numerous sophisticated estate and trust administrations. She handles all aspects of estate administration, including preparing the Federal estate tax return in connection with the estate and advising clients regarding sophisticated post-mortem tax techniques. Elaine has extensive experience handling fiduciary litigation matters involving complex estate, gift and generation-skipping tax issues. She assists clients with regard to claims against trustees and personal representatives, and defends trustees and personal representatives from those claims as well. She also advises clients with regard to will and trust contests. Elaine is a member of the Board of Directors for Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach and the former Chair of the Professional Advisory Committee for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, Southeast Florida Division.
