FPA of Miami-Dade to Volunteer at Junior Achievement Day
The FPA of Miami-Dade is proudly partnering with Junior Achievement Day at Flamingo Elementary School (701 East 33 Street, Hialeah) on May 18th and Linda Lentin K-8 Center (14312 NE 2 Court, North Miami) on May 22nd. As part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) mission of teaching students business concepts, FPA of Miami-Dade volunteers will present Junior Achievement Day lessons focusing on personal finance in a condensed one-day format. FPA of Miami-Dade Career Awareness Event at Florida International University
On April 5th, the FPA of Miami-Dade held a career awareness presentation to provide guidance to 25 Florida International University graduating students on financial planning and investment management as professional options. Students learned about the requirements and importance of the Certified Financial Planner® professional certification to their career development, as well as insights about the benefits of FPA membership. Presenters included FPA board members Glenn Downing, CFP®; Philip Herzberg, CFP®, AEP®;Ashley O’Kurley, CFP®; Jorge Padilla, CFP®; and FPA chapter member Jonathan Cameron, CFP® Candidate. The presentation at the State Farm Financial Literacy Lab was hosted by FIU professor and FPA member Dr. Helen K. Simon, CFP®.
